Dear Congregational Family,

1. Church Picnic & Praise in the Park: These events are this Saturday!! This year we are combining our Church Picnic along with Praise in the Park. Both will be held in the ballfield next to the church. The picnic will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with food trucks and games, including the bounce house, face painting, water balloon toss, bingo, etc. There will also be a “favorite dessert bake off!” The Concert of Praise will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. This is a wonderful time for congregational fellowship and an opportunity to invite your family and friends!!

• We need more volunteers to help with the games, etc. If you can help, please contact: David Compel at davidcompel@ruthfred.org; Lauren Compel at VBS_laurencompel@yahoo.com; or Eric Wente at ewente4802@aol.com.

(Please note: the food from the food trucks is free during the picnic time. During the Concert of Praise, the food trucks will still be on site, and food can be purchased. The food will include: Gyros, burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, etc.)

2. Afghanistan: Be in prayer as we are presently watching the complete crumbling of Afghanistan as the Taliban has now swept across the entire country and taken control of the capital. Of special concern are those who aided the U.S. in some way during the past 20 years and who now will be severely retaliated against. Even more at risk are Christians, many of whom are likely to be brutally martyred within days. I have been seeing reports from different Christian ministries and missionaries detailing what is on the horizon for these dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for them for God’s strength as they remain faithful witnesses of Jesus, even unto death.

3. Staff: Continue to pray for Regan Johnson as he prepares to move here very soon. Also pray for Pat as she prepares to retire at the end of the month. The “Retirement Reception” for Pat will be on Sunday, August 29th after the 11:00 am service.

4. Sermon: Sermon Title: “Marriage: Love & Respect”
Sermon Text: Ephesians 5:21-33
