Dear Congregational Family,

1. “94% of churches are not growing”: I read this statistic this morning. According to research, only 6% of churches in the U.S. are growing at a rate that matches or exceeds that of their community. (In other words, some churches are growing, but at a rate below that of their community.) In light of this, the U.S. is increasingly becoming more “unchurched.” We certainly have our mission cut out for us! Pray for our congregation in becoming more effective in reaching out to our community with the Gospel!

2. Invitation: Also in my reading this morning, I read a statement from church growth strategist, Rich Birch, who said that at the core of church growth it was simply members inviting others to join with them in their church. It’s that simple, and that hard! He also added, “what we do on Sunday, will not keep them throughout the week.” In other words, a relationship must be built and they must be connected into the fabric of the community of the congregation.
Two words come to mind: Invite & Involve.

3. Vicar Czymbor: Vicar and Jacci (and Noah & Ezra) are traveling today to Oklahoma where they will be candidating this Sunday at a church that is considering them for “pastoral call.” Please keep them in your prayers this week.

4. New Vicar: It has just been announced that Brian (& Allie) Westerbur is our new vicar! They will be arriving at the end of May. If you would like to send them an encouraging note of welcome and to let them know that you are praying for them, their address is:
3140 E. Medicine Lake Blvd. Apt. C.
Plymouth, MN. 55441-3010

God bless you as we continue,

“Growing Together in our Faith as the Family of God”
