Weekly Meetings

TNT

Grades 9-12  |  Meets every Tuesday from 7-9pm

As kids filter in we usually start with some sort of fun game to get everyone involved and to help unwind after a long school day.  That is usually followed up by a time of singing & worship, some small group time, and then a lesson or discussion of some type.  We have students from Bethel Park, Upper St. Clair, Peters Township, Mt. Lebanon and many other schools around the South Hills.

Sunday School

Meets every Sunday morning at 9:45am in the youth lounge.

During this time the youth share about their weeks, spend time in the Word, and pray.

Activities

Here are some activities we do throughout the year:

Workcamp/FLY Convention
Every other year the high school kids (8th graders going into high school are also welcome!) travel to another city for a week of fun and service.  Ruthfred currently uses a group called Youth Works to facilitate in this trip.  Youth works has ongoing service projects and kids’ clubs in impoverished areas throughout the summer and we join up with them for a week to help in what they are doing.  They also provide us with our housing, meals and other activities.  Past locations have included Taylorsville, NC, Benton Harbor, MI, Philadelphia, PA and Onancock, VA.

The other years, we attend the National Youth Convention for the Association Free Lutheran Congregations (The FLY Convention). Instead of focusing on service projects and physical labor, youth are encouraged to work on building up their relationship with God through electives and sessions. The FLY Convention takes place in Estes Park, Colorado, right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Click here for a video of the 2019 FLY Convention.

TNT Retreat
Every January TNT heads up to Franklin, PA to Seneca Hills Bible Camp for a weekend retreat.  It is a great time to get away, have a ton of fun, get to know some people and also to be challenged in your faith!  This retreat is typically the first weekend in January.

30 Hour Famine
Each February, TNT participates in World Vision’s 30 hour famine.  We meet at the church after school on a Friday and pledge not to eat for 30 hours in order to raise money and awareness for the world hunger.  Friday evening is usually full of fun activities and things to keep our minds off of our stomachs, but the following morning we will go do some sort of service project around the community.

Lock-ins And Late Nights
Various times throughout the year we will host late nights and lock- ins at the church. These events give us an opportunity to get to know one another better, go deeper in the Word, and play games that normal programming does not allow for.
